About D - 8

D-8, also known as Developing-8, is an arrangement for development cooperation among the following countries: Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan and Turkey.

The establishment of D-8 was announced officially through the Istanbul Declaration of Summit of Heads of State/Government on June 15, 1997.

Nigeria will be hosting the 7th D-8 Summit from 4-10 July, 2010 with the theme, “Enhancing Investment Cooperation among D-8 Members”. Member States of Developing Eight countries comprises: Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan and Turkey. D-8 which has a population of 930 million people has its Secretariat located in Istanbul, Turkey. The Secretariat is headed by a Secretary General.
